How SMS opt-in works

Varden asks trusted contacts for clear consent before sending any alert. Here's how it works.

In the Varden app

When you add a trusted contact, you see this screen:

Varden will text this person one invitation. They must reply YES before they receive alerts. Message and data rates may apply. They can reply STOP at any time.

The invitation text

The contact receives this invitation:

Varden: Maya Lopez added you as a trusted contact. If she misses a safety check-in, Varden will text you. Reply YES to accept or STOP to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply.

Confirmation after YES

After replying YES, the contact receives:

Varden: You're now a trusted contact for Maya Lopez. You'll only get texts if she misses a check-in or asks for help. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

HELP and STOP replies

If the contact replies HELP:

Varden: You get alerts only when a contact who added you misses a safety check-in. Help: [email protected]. Reply STOP to opt out.

If the contact replies STOP:

Varden: You won't receive more texts from Varden. Reply START to opt back in.
